Dr. Manop Sittidech has been working as the Minister Counsellor of the Office of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Embassy, Brussels since January 2015. The Office gives advice in the field of science, technologies and innovation. In addition, it also performs research and gathers information on the development of science, technologies and innovation in Europe. The Office also follows, coordinates and cooperates on projects with other agencies and institutions in Europe to exchange knowledge and promote relevant technologies for Thailand.

Topic: ‘Supervisor, time and self-research managements for PhD, Master and Undergraduate students who have to do a project, thesis or dissertation’
The topic of the presentation is about how to write proper research work, how to manage time well and how to maintain a good relationship with the supervisor in order to finish research of any level (UG/PG/PhD). Dr Chinnapat will also provide tricks and tips to prepare for and pass the visa process.

H.E. Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Tourism and Sports in Thailand
Weerasak Kowsurat, presently serves as Thailand Minister of Tourism and Sports for another tenure. He once served as Vice Minister for Culture and Vice Minister for Social Development and Human Security; and Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister on International Affairs. He was twice elected Member of Thai Parliament and recorded the youngest Secretary to the President of Thai National Assembly, ex officio Speaker of the Senate and Chairman of the Constitution Tribunal at the age of 24.

Dr. Chutima Hanpachern, Deputy Secretary-General, Office of the Civil Service Commission
Chutima Hanpachern, Ph.D. is currently the Deputy Secretary-General, Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC). Her responsibilities include Civil Service Training Institute, Education and Training Abroad Centre, Senior Executive Service Centre, Ethics Promotion Centre, Office of Educational Affairs, Anti-Corruption Operation Centre, and Centre for Provincial HRM Competency Development. Prior to holding this position, her expertise in Human Resource Development has been widely recognised. She is now appointed as Human Resource Specialist and committee in many national level committees, such as sub-committee of National Reform Council, sub-committee of Parliamentary Servants, Thailand Productivity Committee, etc. Recently, she has also been appointed by the Prime Minister to serve as an assistant director of Prime Minister Delivery Unit (PMDU).

Dr. Somvong Tragoonrung, Director of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC)
Dr. Somvong Tragoonrung obtained his Ph.D. in plant and soil science from Montana State University. Before completing his doctoral degree, Somvong had experience working in the research departments of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). He started his career at BIOTEC in 1992 as a researcher in Plant Genetic Engineering Laboratory. In 1999, he was tasked to lead the establishment of DNA Technology Laboratory and became its first director until the spin-off in 2009. Somvong has served as Director of Genome Technology Research Unit since 2008. As an expert in genomic research, Somvong was a key member of Thai research team participating in the International Rice Genome Sequencing Project. His expertise in genome technology allows him to lead the team to develop genetic testing of GM products, species identification and grain purity. He is also an expert in utilizing genome technology for crop improvement, with the current work concentrating on eucalyptus, oil palm and sugar cane. He was the recipient of 2013 Technologist Award, a prestigious award established by the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology.

Dr. Somkiat Tangkitvanich, President of Thailand Development Research Institute
Dr Somkiat Tangkitvanich obtained his PhD in Computer Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology. He has been recognized as a leading Thai expert in the areas of trade and investment policies, innovation policy, education policy and ICT policy. He was a main architect of Thai PBS, the first public television in Southeast Asia, and many media laws in Thailand. Under his leadership, TDRI is nominated “Person of the Year” in 2012 by the Bangkok Post. He appears regularly in Thai and international media and is the commentator of “Think to the power of 2” (คิดยกกำลังสอง), a weekly program on public policy of the Thai PBS.

Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, Advisor of the Ministry of Public Health in Global Health
Dr Suwit Wibulpolprasert is a public health specialist, administrator and policy advocate at national and global level. He began his career as a Director and practitioner in rural areas and has various technical and administrative experience in Thai FDA, the Bureau of Health Policy and Plan, Deputy Permanent Secretary and the senior expert in Health Economics and Disease Control. His current position is the advisor of the Ministry of Public Health in Global Health.

Mr. Ariya Banomyong, Managing Director LINE Thailand
Ariya Banomyong joined LINE Thailand in October 2015 as the territory’s first Managing Director. His responsibilities include overseeing business strategies and operations for LINE in Thailand, setting up new ventures, and developing leadership teams. And, in addition to enhancing business opportunities for LINE Thailand, Ariya is also active in building the start-up community and ecosystem in general in Thailand.
With 18 years of international experience in technology and mobile, Ariya has a track record of strong leadership and extensive knowledge of the industry. Prior to joining LINE, Ariya was the first Country Head of Google Thailand, where he was responsible for sales and business development. He also served as the Chief Commercial Officer at True Corporation, Thailand’s leading telecom, where he led the company’s convergence strategy.
